What is ClariVein?

Clarivein is one of the latest minimally invasive vein treatment options for large, bulging, tortuous varicose veins. This procedure works more effectively than most other vein treatments for tortuous varicose veins, i.e., blood vessels that appear on the skin’s surface in a twisted, tangled, and knotted form. During this procedure, a specialized catheter with a rotating tip wire is used to damage the diseased vein’s walls while injecting a sclerosant solution. This treatment removes varicose veins using a combination of mechanical energy and chemical energy.

What to Expect from ClariVein?

ClariVein is a simple, in-office, outpatient procedure that concludes within 30 minutes. During the ClariVein procedure, the vein doctor makes a small incision on the skin’s surface on the inside of your leg to insert a specialized catheter under vascular imaging.

Once the specialized catheter is in place, the vein doctor activates it to make the rotating wire damage the diseased vein while delivering a sclerosant solution, making the diseased vein collapse shut. The procedure concludes within 30 minutes, and it involves minimal post-treatment bruising and discomfort. You can resume your normal activities immediately after the treatment.

What is the ClariVein Device?

The ClariVein device is a thin, small, tube-like catheter with a specialized rotating wire. The catheter is also a delivery system for a sclerosant solution that seals the diseased vein’s walls. This is a non-thermal vein treatment, as opposed to laser ablation or radiofrequency ablation.

Can ClariVein treat unhealthy veins on the face, hands, and feet?

ClariVein is meant for the treatment of large, bulging, tortuous varicose veins. The hands, face, and feet generally develop spider veins and small varicose veins, and these regions have dense arterial connections. ClariVein isn’t suitable for the hands, face, and feet because of the risk of damaging one of the densely-packed arteries in the region.
